To Steal a Highlander's Heart Blog Tour!

I am really excited about this post! I got the chance to read and review To Steal a Highlander's Heart by Samantha Holt. And, I have some really cool things for the post from the author. :)

Alana sets eyes on Morgann for the first time in several years and what does he do? He captures her! But Alana refuses to go meekly with the sexy Highland warrior. Her kidnapping will reignite the rift that’s existed between the two clans since her father accused Morgann of theft and she doesn’t want to see her father harmed in the inevitable war that will ensue.

Unfortunately for Alana, the faeries seek to interfere with her plans to escape. The sidhe have a debt to repay and Tèile, the green faery, is determined to mend the rift between the clans for good. And that means ensuring Alana and Morgann marry.

Morgann has his own reasons for taking Alana and they are nothing to do with marriage or war. He wants to use her to reveal a secret from the past, the one that had him accused of theft. If only he didn’t find his childhood friend so attractive. When circumstances force them together, Alana’s life is threatened and war is imminent. Can Morgann reveal the truth without losing Alana? And will the faeries meddling help or hinder his cause?

It has been so long since I’ve read a historical romance. I had almost forgotten how much I loved them.

But this had everything I wanted in a historical romance…hot Scottish Highlander, a spunky highland lass, intrigue, murder plots and enemy clans.

The starts out when Alana and Morgann are young. They’re good friends but Morgann knows something that Alana doesn’t…her dad is up to no good and after the MacRae lands. Morgann is branded a thief (literally) and thrown off the Campbell lands, sparking a feud between the two families. My one issue with this part of the book was that it jumps 8 years into the future and you don’t see anything of the feud. No raids, battles, antagonism…nothing.

But, we do meet the very nice and interfering faery Tèile. She was there when Morgann was thrown off Campbell lands and decided that now was time to repay a debt to the Campbell family. Apparently, Alana’s mother helped a Fae give birth and Tèile was the one responsible for repaying the debt. I thought this was an interesting part of the book. I wish I’d had more information or seen the actual deal go down, but I liked Tèile. She definitely provided some funny moments. And I can’t wait for Finn’s story to see more of  Tèile’s meddling.

My only complaint is that the book could have been longer. It was still a great book and kept me engaged but I couldn’t help but feel like Morgann and Alana should have spent more time with his family or even by themselves…or both. And there were definitely threats to them (specifically Alana) but they  happened to close together. I was kind of hoping that they would be spaced out so that they were lulled into a false sense of security and let their guard down.

But overall, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from the author.

Morgann MacRae
Dark, haunted, angry.
Morgann carries the burden of being the Laird of Glencolum while his father is sick. Once a playful lad, his one mistake has led to years of bloodshed and strife. He spends his days running Glencolum Keep and worrying for his father’s health. With his stepmother plotting against him, his only focus is ensuring the truth comes to light and that she is brought to justice. That is until he captures Alana…

Alana Campbell
Spirited, stubborn, caring.
As the only Campbell daughter, Alana has a duty to protect her clan. After years of being hidden away in her father’s keep, the lively lass is desperate from some freedom. She takes her responsibilities seriously, having taken on her late mother’s duties for many years, but she yearns for some time away from the castle. She also misses her close friend, Morgann MacRae, who she spent many years with when they were growing up. She longs for the days when the clans worked closely together. Unfortunately it looks like Alana will never get her wish when her only day of freedom leads to her being captured by the very man she missed so much.
