Bare Bones Blog Tour!!!

Welcome to the blog tour for The Bare Bones by Layla Wolfe!

From the first moment that we heard about this book, we were drooling for it. It sounded like it was right up our alley!

OMG! Yes! Bikers and SEALs combined! It was heaven in book form!

LOL. I see you’re going all fan girl…and we haven’t even started the review part yet.

Can you blame me!? I’m addicted to SEAL and MC romances!

LOL. It’s just a nice change that you’re the one freaking out and fan girling.

:P Fine, I’ll shut up so we can get back to the intro…

So, as you could see, this book was a SEAL that was also a biker! It was something unique, it combined two of our favorite romance genres. So can you blame us for jumping on it as soon as it was released?

Title: The Bare Bones
Author: Layla Wolfe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 1, 2014

If you ain’t living on the edge, you’re taking up too much room.

The rose-colored illusion of Madison Shellmound’s girlish crush on biker Ford Illuminati is stomped into smithereens by his crude, perverse father Cropper, Bare Bones club President. Fearing Ford will kill Cropper if he finds out, Madison flees town, becoming an upstanding cardiology nurse.

Madison and Ford have an ill-fated, star-crossed love that will last their lifetimes. Ford is a lifer in a different sort of enterprise, the gritty full-throttle club of guns, blood, and allegiance to his brothers.

Twelve years and several tours of SEAL duty later, Ford is thrust back into Madison’s arms on the worst day of his life. Madison’s prospect brother Speed has screwed up big-time and owes the club his life. She offers herself to Cropper as a sacrificial lamb to save Speed.

But how long until the fiery, full-on outlaw Ford discovers that the woman he loves was treated like a degraded slave by his own father? Well, meet the new boss. He’s not the same as the old boss.

Ok. Can we gush about this now? praying

Lol. Yes. Now we can gush and vent and anything else.

Yay!!! party

Sooo…

Soooo…what?

This is where you’re supposed to gush!

Oh. Right. So…uh…what did you think?

rolling on the floor Really?! That’s what you start with!?

Hey! I can’t help it that my mind went blank when you put me on the spot!

LOL. Ok, fine. How do I feel? Hmm... Let me see if I can articulate it… The language was crude. The characters were brass and unapologetic. The story was dark and gritty with a touch of twisted and fucked up thrown in. I fucking loved it!

LOL. Very nice. I have to agree about most of that. The language didn’t bother me, I expected it from a MC romance, along with the f-ed up twisted stuff. And I loved Ford. He made the book for me. I couldn’t put it down and I was hooked on Ford & Madison’s story.

I was hooked too! I loved Ford and was glued to every page involving him! ;) Madison was pretty awesome as well.

Do we want to talk about, without spoiling, what happened to Madison? Or at least how it made us feel?

*sigh* Ok. If we must.

I can’t complain about what happened when she was 17/18 years old because that propelled the story on, but I didn’t like it. And don’t get me started on what happened to her later in the book. That was just awful. Especially when there were OTHER WOMEN telling her “just lay there and take it. You’re earning your “Property of” patch.” Um…I’m sorry, but I thought that if you were claimed by a MC guy, you had already “earned” your “property of” patch. She should have never been susceptible to that abuse from Cropper.

I agree. I didn't like any of those scenes. I hated that she had to endure that as a teen and then again as an adult. And the fact that the other women thought it was ok floored me. I just knew when Ford found out hell would reign!

That bothered me. How did Ford NOT KNOW what his father was up to? And even if he didn’t know exactly what it was, he knew something wasn’t right and yet he didn’t rush back to her to find out what was going on!

shame on you to Ford on that one!

I concur. And seriously, don’t get me started on Cropper. He needed to be tortured within an inch of his life…then killed.

Oh yes! I was disappointed that that wasn't how he ended! waiting no talking

Same here. I wanted him to feel pain for what he did. I did have one thing that I didn’t like about this book….

The lack of SEAL time?!?!?!

YES! I love SEALs! And that description promised a SEAL!!! And yet, we had NO SEAL time. crying

I felt cheated crying

So, what’s your overall rating?

4

Me too.
