Mercy F*uck by K.S. Adkins

You know what I LOVE?! Stumbling across a book by total accident and finding a new favorite read, as well as an author who is awesomesauce!

Isn't that the best! Here's my review for Mercy F*ck by K.S. Adkins, muh new faave!!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You've seen the title of this book and now you're curious, I get it.

I totally do.
Mercy F*uck isn't a title that inspires smiles and you'd be right.

Let me start by saying his name was Axle Rhodes and everything about him, including his love for Metallica, made you want to offer yourself up as a sacrifice.
And believe me, I did.
My heart and v-card were his for the conquering, and because he had a pulse, twenty-four-seven erection and empty bed, he took it.

It was love, it was fate, it was our happily ever after.
Right?
Wrong.
It was bullshit.

For Axle it wasn't any of those things.
I know this to be true because while planning our wedding while still naked in said bed, I had the misfortune of hearing him utter the two words that described what he really thought of me.

Now don't go feeling sorry for me, okay? I learned a valuable lesson about the opposite sex that day and am all the better for it.
To Axle, I was a Mercy F*uck this is true. But, every man I would meet after him would become mine.

My name is Drew, by the way, and nine years and a lot of practice later, I like to think of myself as the 'Mercy F*uck Master'.
Trust me, it was title I earned and was seriously proud of too.
Well at least I was, until the Mercy F*ucker came back.

Axle Rhodes... Be still my ❤ Drew... Girl you kick ass!

So, here I am cruising facebook and goodreads looking for something to catch my eye. The title Mercy F*ck jumps at me. I read the blurb, and to be completely honest, wasn't sold so I moved on. However, it stuck with me. Since I can't stop thinking about it, I download to kindle and start it just to see what exactly happens. Let me tell you... I read for 2 hours and realize I'm gonna have to put this down so I can get up for work the next day, and I am pissed. I was hooked from the start and dammit, I didn't wanna put it down! Good thing for me I was able to finagle reading time at work today ;)

Drew is the oldest of 5 daughters and has a strong sense of family values so she gets a job to help her parents out. At a bar. Turns out, she's a damn good bartender. Axle is a college student who comes in one night and they strike up a conversation which leads to a solid friendship over time. One night they decide to take it all the way, but the next morning some stuff goes down. Major misunderstanding that totally hurt my heart for these two. This is what I was anxious to find out about. The blurb doesn't give you much to go on, but I wanted to know why he calls her a mercy f*ck if they were so close! Well, she hears and it doesn't make her happy so she high tails it outta there!

Fast forward 9 years. Drew and Axle haven't seen or spoken during this time apart. By random chance, Axle comes across some information on Drew and decides to seek her out now that he's finally able to find her. Their reunion is epic. Nine years is a long time, and both are not the same as they were when they were young and in love. Drew has hardened her heart and refuses to be the mercy f*ck for anyone. They have some hurdle to overcome if they want to get back on track.

Some of those hurdles include gunfire, bombings, keeping the friendly neighborhood assassins in check and a dirty cop out for revenge. Things are not boring that's fo sho! ;)

I think Drew was so awesome because she was definitely a strong female lead who could, without a doubt, take care of herself. She didn't let anyone push her around. No simpering female here. It's really refreshing to see a heroine who starts out as a strong woman, and stays that way throughout the book. Too often the heroins start that way and by the end, the hero comes in and just takes over. Axle was most assuredly an alpha intent on protecting her, but he recognized she could fend for herself. They had to work together to come to a mutual understanding that while she can, and will, stand on her own, he's still gonna be there to have her back. I loved their bantering back and forth and how they worked together. ❤

I really had no idea what I was getting into when I started this book. What I found though, was that I absofreakinglutely LOVED every action packed second and I didn't want to put it down! This is a non stop ride and I loved every bit. The plot was thickening around every corner. Who was trying to kill them? And was it Drew or Axle they were after? Or both?! Add in some crazy supporting characters and it was amazeballs. My favorite sc was hands down Carrie. That bitch was nuts! In the best way though. Everything she did had me laughing and wondering what the hell she was on! And Tiny... Dude. Lol And during all this action was Drew and Axle trying to find their way back to each other. Can they pick up after all these years apart and will they even mesh well now that they're older and different? Read it!

This is my first book from this author and I promise it won't be the last. I really loved her writing style. It was fresh and realistic with the witty dialogue and banter between the h/h. The only way I can really think to describe it is modern. There'e slang and cursing and I don't know it just really clicked for me. I really liked the tone, if that makes sense. So much so, I even had to message her to tell her she has a new stalker! ;) (don't worry, she's cool with it :D )

I really love when I find a random book that I honestly don't know how it will go, and it ends up becoming an all time favorite and I get to add a new author to my ever growing list of favorites. :)

My suggestion, go one click now! I'll even make it easy for you ;) Here's the Amazon link.
