Vincent by Sarah Brianne!

Vincent
Made Men # 2
By: Sarah Brianne
Releasing March 16, 2015

Young Ink Press

Vincent knows the glamorous side of the Mafia, being born a soldier.

Lake lives on the opposite side of the tracks, born the daughter of a soldier.

The light and dark side of him are at constant war, but he is letting his darkness reign.

She is trying to find peace, and she will soon be far enough away to find it.

Discovering that his boss owns her, showed him how little he knew her.

Knowing all about him only makes her want to hate him.

I’m a fu**ing made man.
I’m just fu**ing trailer trash.

I'm very excited to be sitting down with Vincent today! I completely loved his story with Lake and could barely contain my excitement at meeting him in person. He's a very busy guy so I was only able to get a few questions in before the interview was over...

(Vincent is sitting in the VIP of a very exclusive club)

Vincent, three words to describe yourself
Insane psychopathic killer.

Did you always want to be a “Made Man” or is it something you have no control over?
I was born wanting to be made.

If you had the choice to be anything else, what would you want to do with your life?
There was no other alternative I was going to become made or die trying.

You have watched your best friend fall in love. Do you want the same thing for yourself?
Fuck no.

Is there anyone in the running to be Vincent’s girl?
Sure, anyone with tits and a great ass can be my girl for an hour.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Same place now, except with a better view up the mafia family tree.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me!

Your welcome sweetheart, what are you doing for the next hour?

(btw, no, I didn't take him up on that offer. My heart will forever belong to Nero ;) )

WHY!? WHHHHHHYYYYYYY!!!!! Why did that have to end!? *sniff* Every time I find a book I love, it ends before I’m ready to let go. I think all of Sarah Brianne’s books need to be 1000 pages long. Maybe then they’ll be long enough for me!

I hate writing reviews like this. The book was so awesome that there’s no way my review will ever do it justice. With that said: There will be some slight spoilers because in order for me to talk about all the goodness that was this book, I need to talk about certain events. To skip over the events would be the equivalent of Nero and Vincent not seeking vengeance on behalf of their woman.

Vincent was freaking AWESOME!!!! Did I love it more than Nero? No. And here’s why: Nero is pure perfection. He’s my one true love. However, with that said, Vincent gave Nero a run for his money. He was beyond amazing and I’m more than proud to claim him as a book boyfriend! I can honestly say that every time I picked up my kindle to read some of Vincent, I was giddy. The same feeling reading Nero brings out in me (hmmm…what does that say about me?). I just wish I had been able to sit, uninterrupted and immerse myself in Vincent the way I did with Nero…stupid interruptions. :|

All Lake wants is to get out of Kansas City and be free from her mom's husband and her dad's employer: the mob. So she plans to leave everything holding her to the city and start over. But that wasn't meant to be. Events with her dad forced her hand and she had to stay in town. I have to say that her circumstances were...kind of amusing. Especially when Vincent got involved due to Lucca's meddling.

I was surprised that Lake was able to hide the abuse her stepfamily threw at her for so long. And let me just say, her mom was horrible. I don’t know she was able to turn a blind eye to what her husband and stepdaughter were doing but she deserved to go a round with Sadie while Vincent spent some time with John and Ashley. And when it she set Lake up near the end…well…let’s just say that Vincent was too merciful on her. She deserved a more painful experience. I have to say that I love that Maria gets in on the act when it comes to vengeance in these books. I loved her taking part in it against that bitch Ashley.

As with the previous book, I’m extremely intrigued by Lucca. I want to know what’s going on behind that scary façade. I’m also very torn about the apparent triangle between Amo, Chloe and Lucca. On one hand, I’m definitely on Team Amo. But on the other…there’s something strong between Lucca and Chloe. I think either guy would be great with her, each bringing something totally different to the table. And speaking of Chloe, I’m dying to find out what secrets she’s still hiding. I loved getting to know Amo a little better in this book. It definitely makes me want his book sooner rather than later. Well, actually, I want all the books sooner rather than later.

I’m in deeply in awe of Sarah Brianne’s talent. She is definitely my favorite author. She knows how to write some awesome alpha guys that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and distribute some vengeance in the name of their women. My only complaint…she doesn’t write fast enough! I’m dying to find out who Chloe ends up with, and I would love a book for Maria! (I’m seriously hoping that the scene at the graduation is setting up a story for her!)

This is definitely a must read book!

Lake closed her eyes at the sound of screeching metal hitting the pavement from the car’s muffler scraping the road. Her father’s car was an old Cadillac she was sure dated back to the eighties; it honestly needed work. Total junker.
Her father somehow managed to keep it working by doing his own repairs on it, using different parts from various cars and even making some himself. Lake liked to call it the Frankenlac.
She thought he would have bought a new car sometime between 1981 and 2014, but nope. He had better ways to spend his money. Yeah, like betting on a horse or for chips to throw in the middle of a poker table.
Even though Lake’s father was a level-twelve gambler on the Richter scale, she wouldn’t trade him for the world because Lake knew the other side of the coin all too well.
She shook her head, unwilling to think about the coming weekend. Most teenagers would be happy it was Friday, but not her. No, her weekends were nothing except torturous. Literally.
Her father finally reached the destination and put the car in park. “All right, kiddo. Have a good day. I’ll see you Monday.”
Lake looked away from all the stares outside of the car to meet her father’s smile. “You, too, Dad. See you Monday.” She had managed to force a smile of her own by the end of the sentence.
Lake opened the door and stepped out of the car, grabbing her bag.
“Love ya, kiddo.”
That time, Lake didn’t have to force a smile. “Love you, Dad.”
As she closed the door, another scraping sound occurred. After watching her father start to drive away, she was finally able to turn around and face the teenagers’ looks. It honestly wasn’t as bad as it seemed; they always had much better things to talk about. Not to mention a short attention span.
See, Lake wasn’t popular nor was she unpopular; she was just … well, Lake.
Boom!
After a moment of complete silence, loud laughter filled the air along with some serious black smoke from her father’s car blowing a gasket. Lake put her head down and pulled up the hood from her hoodie, trying to conceal her face.
Great. It can’t get any worse, can it? She started walking through the parking lot, weaving between the people and cars.
Beginning to hear loud music come closer, Lake turned her head to see a big, white Jeep heading her way. She had to jump back to dodge the corner of the vehicle as the brakes squealed into ‘park’.
Lake stood in shock from the close call as her heart began to pound. She knew exactly who was driving before the girl exited the Jeep along with three of her friends.
Ashley. It was hard for her to even say her name in her head.
“Oh, my gosh. I didn’t even see you,” Ashley said sarcastically through her snickering.
Lake decided to take the golden opportunity of being able to talk back. She didn’t get many chances.
“Oh, my gosh. Really? Maybe you need to get glasses. Quick, how many fingers am I holding up?” Lake stuck up her middle finger then heard muffled laughs.
Ashley scowled and spoke as loudly as she could. “Sorry, I don’t speak trailer trash.”

That right there was how a lot of the world saw Lake—just a piece of trash. Trailer trash, to be exact.

We were also lucky enough to sit down with the Made Man Goddess herself!

Sarah, congrats on the release of your Second New Adult Romance, VINCENT. For those readers that haven’t yet read your books, tell us a little about the Made Men series?

The first two books have hero’s that are in the Caruso Mafia and the heroines have all suffered in some way, due to physical or verbal abuse. The series takes you through some real life horrible situations that I felt compelled to write about, hopefully my books can spread awareness on these things and I hope that these books can help anyone that has ever suffered through the same experience my characters have. Made Men the series is for anyone who was never able to face their demons, or for those that never got the chance to punch their high school bully. Made Men will take care of that for you and they take retribution to the next level.

In the end it’s a very dark and very violent series that still is somehow hilarious at times but most importantly it’s about a tale of true love.

How did you start writing?

Every since I was a little girl I would watch my mom read books. Seriously she would flow through books like it was water and can easily read five books a day if she wanted. Obviously she wouldn’t let me even pick one up so I was forced to watch her enjoy endless books for years upon years. I felt as if my mom was holding the biggest secret in the world and it killed me to know, but my mother is crazy and would of turned me black and blue if she even thought I would read one.
Now fast-forward to high school when I got my ACT scores back, my reading level was so low (my writing scores were legit though) and mom did the unthinkable. It was obvious the only way to bring it up was to read more, so instead of giving me ‘Catcher In The Rye’ or something like that she gave me my first romance novel. Mom’s theory was this, I was going to actually love reading a book cover to cover and that I was going to want to read as much as possible hanging on every word, therefore bringing my reading level up.

Well she was right, I cant tell you how many books I read that summer I too started to flow through them like water reading book after book (and for all you parents out there, it worked my reading level went up and I even went to college and got a degree). Now that I was FINALLY in on the secret I think my brain went nuts and I started making my own characters up in my head. Fast forward just a few more years and I was in my last semester of college, I had to make a choice either go to pharmacy school or write these stories that were dying to get out. When my mom told me pharmacy school was the only option, I guess I got a little pissed and that’s when I wrote Nero in my last semester of college. We had an understanding of if it did good, then I could make it my career or if it did bad well I was going to spend another four torturous years in school. I think we all know how that ended...

So how did I start writing? It was all because of my mother. I still remember the day she handed me my first romance book that changed my life forever, it was Dark Prince by Christine Feehan. She gave that particular book to me because Twilight was the shit back then to every teenage girl so she gave me a vampire love story that was soooo much better. Good call mom, good call.

Are you a plotter or pantser?

I like to think I am a special breed of writer, a pantter. I dream up certain pivotal scenes that I would like to take place and I keep them locked in my head. Then everything in-between those scenes are whatever the hell kind of crazy shit hits me in that moment.

Where did the idea for NERO (Made Men Book #1) come from?

I had a couple of key points that always intrigued me and knew that was what I wanted to write about.

1. Meaning
I wasn’t going to write a story if at the end of the day it held no true meaning. I believe in telling a story that confronts today’s real life problems that should be dealt with. Bullying is a real thing. Child abuse is a real thing. And everything horrible in between that people don’t think is real is a real thing. I want to help those that have experienced these problems and most importantly I want to spread awareness that these things are in fact real.

2. BAD to the BONE
Well I am a very anti-hero kind of girl, the bader the better in my opinion and I really enjoy a good action film. Blood guts and glory are my thing and most importantly, REVENGE. The mafia always fascinated me since they embody all of this and they look freaking great doing it. They have so many secrets and rules, again secrets just kill me, and it sucks that only Google can tell me what they are. So unfortunately for me I’m not in the mafia and I will never really know the truth.

3. Young/High School
I was never able to read Young Adult books they are wayyy to mushy-gushy for my taste and I always hated how I could never get my fill of a good high school book. I felt something was completely missing from that market as the typical bad boys in high school were guys who smoked pot under the bleachers and bullied kids smaller then them. I was always like REALLY? So I made the real fucking bad boys who beat the shit out of them for doing that.

Now a young man in high school that was also in the mafia but still faced real life issues just seemed a little crazy, but I thought… Hey that just might work.

What are your plans for the series?
I honestly have no idea; I just hope that people will like the second book enough that I can at least write the next book.

Do you plan to branch out into Adult Romance, or another genre?
I hope so because I would looove to write a book on the Caruso family boss, Dante!

Three Fun Facts about you
1. I live in Las Vegas!
2. I collect Buddha’s!
3. I have Misophonia. (Google it people, I thought I was alone for so long…)

Hey! My name is Sarah Brianne and after living for twenty-two years the characters in my head told me enough was enough and I have finally put pen to paper (or is it finger to keyboard?) to tell their stories. Since I was a little girl I have watched every chick flick I could get my hands on, then when I became older I discovered a whole new world of romance novels. To me there is nothing better then a tale of true love and those are the stories that have inspired me to write. Like everything else in my life I have put my own spin on two lovers destined to be together.
Next to my books my prized possession are my two beautiful fur babies, Kalypso and Khaleesi. I know what you’re thinking, do you pack them in your purse? Yep, right next to my kindle.
