Calix Bourbon might seem like a free spirit, but that’s all a front. In reality he’s just trying to keep his fractured family together while working as a session musician. When Blue Fire hires him to replace their keyboardist, Calix is determined to make the most of the opportunity—but he can’t help being distracted by the band’s sexy personal chef.
Mimi’s temporary gig is great, but she has her heart set on auditioning for a televised cooking show. There’s just one problem: she only has a week to acquire the skills necessary to survive the competition. Luckily, the band’s new keyboard player can teach her exactly what she needs, in the kitchen and in the bedroom...

I was completely shocked by this book. I mean, yes, the blurb sounded good (at least good enough to add to my tbr list) but it didn’t scream at me, begging to be read. But once I started it, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down.
I totally fell in love with Calix and Mimi. I loved how they developed a friendship through a) helping her prepare for a cooking competition and b) helping draw his mom back into interacting with people.
I went into this book expecting a typical rock star, or up and coming rock star. I totally wasn’t prepared for the emotional upheaval Calix’s family had been through and his journey to finding his own life again. One of the reasons I love Mimi was that she genuinely cared about people, her friends and family and she wanted to help. She was often “sticking her nose” in where it didn’t belong, but her heart was always in the right place. She also wasn’t afraid to be honest with Calix, and while some of her hard truths did cause some arguments and disagreements, they never left me feeling like it was unnecessary drama.
One of the things I loved most was the sense of family that was there between the band/group of friends. They had such great chemistry. I also loved the way Calix’s family seemed to adopt Mimi and treated her like one of their own, especially his dad. I loved Calix’s dad.
I’m notorious (on the blog at least), for reading books/series out of order, and this was no exception. I haven’t read the other books in the series, so I went into this blind. I fell in love with the other characters and can’t wait to go back and read their stories.
“Great story line, full of emotion, and passion with wonderful characters. I adore this series!” –Gretchen, Goodreads Reviewer
“Erika Kelly has now won a place as one of my top authors.” –Deanne, Books and Boys Book Blog
She didn’t know what happened, but suddenly his hands were on her hips, and she was in the air. Her ass landed on the counter, his body shoved between her legs, and he was right in her face. Those eyes—God, those dark, soulful eyes—so filled with emotion. Pain, yearning, confusion. A hand clamped on each of her thighs, and his fingers pressed hard into her flesh.
Her heart pounded. The blood rushed so loudly in her ears it sounded like a waterfall. His fingers tightened on her thighs. He breathed roughly through his nostrils.
She could see his fight, feel the strain in his muscles, so she softened, letting her hands reach for his face, her fingers stroke the silky scruff of his beard.
And then he leaned in, his breath a sigh against her lips. He kissed her. Tentatively, at first. A sample, a taste. His lips brushed over hers, as if savoring a precious gift.
But she didn’t go half-assed at anything, so she parted her lips, let her tongue touch his, and he moaned deep in his throat. And then he was kissing her.
As if the floodgates had burst open, his need crashed over her.
No one had ever kissed her with such wild passion in her life.
His hands slid up her legs, rested right at the juncture, and God, the span of those fingers. His thumb brushed restless strokes on her inner thigh. He pressed forward, his hips flat against the counter, as he devoured her with his mouth and tongue.
He cupped her face, tasting her more deeply. Those big hands on her cheeks, holding her so firmly, gently, like she was precious, only made her heart ache from the tenderness of his touch.
His kisses turned hungrier, dirtier, and she clutched at his shoulders, hands sliding down his back to hold him to her more tightly. And then he caressed her neck down to her collarbone, the heel of his palm pressing into her breast.
God, she craved him. Wanted to rip off her clothes and climb him, rub her bare skin all over his. Every cell in her body opened to him, letting all his heat, his intensity, sink deep into her. Her legs wrapped around his waist, her heels digging into the hard globes of his ass.
He cupped her breast, kneading it gently, reverently, his body feverishly hot and his kiss turning ravenous. Oh, God, oh, God, oh, God. She pushed harder against him, arching into his touch.
When his thumb flicked over her nipple, a bolt of electricity shot straight to her core and she gasped, pulling her mouth off his. “God. We have to…” She could barely catch her breath. “What are we doing?”
