A Message from Kristen:

Dear Reader,

I’m beside myself with glee that this prequel to my Rock Chick series has been unleashed! There was some time when I never thought I’d write it. When I couldn’t be in that terrible place with Daisy. But I’m oh-so glad that she called to me, demanding her story be told so she could give it to me and now I can give it to you! I loved every moment spent with Daisy and Marcus. And I hope you do too!

From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Ashley, comes the long-awaited story of Daisy and Marcus, Rock Chick Reawakening. A prequel to Kristen’s Rock Chick series, Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloan—one of Denver’s most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground’s most feared crime bosses—into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.

All. The. Feels!

Ok, I have read every Rock Chick book, most more than once. I have loved them all, some more than others lol. Throughout the entire series, I have grown more and more fond of Daisy and Marcus but I was on the fence on whether I wanted and actual book for them. See, as an already established couple, them getting a book could have gone horribly wrong. Nothing against Ms. Ashley (I love her!) but sometimes when a situation like this comes up, in order to have a full story, drama and unnecessary events could be put together to for the sake of having a book. I would have been devastated had this happened for Daisy! We've learned a lot about her through the other stories, so we already knew she'd been raped and couldn't have kids. That's heartbreaking enough without having other crap happen. FORTUNATELY, all those worries were for naught, as Kristen Ashley knew what the hell she was doing and did it RIGHT!

RC Reckoning goes to the beginning. We start out with a young Daisy and skip ahead little by little until she finally meets Marcus. I liked this because first, we got to see the crap mom she had and how she was raised. We also got to learn where Daisy got her Southern charm from, and can I just say that brought on ALL THE FEELS! ❤ We also learn how Daisy became one of Smithy's girls. She was so awesome, so in control of her life and didn't give that first shit what anyone thought of her. Yet, she kept that bit of vulnerability, which just made me love her more.

Marcus was smitten with her from his first sighting, and seeing as we'd never gotten his pov before, I was ecstatic to see through his eyes and learn the depth of his feelings for her. I have chills just typing this and thinking back on it! I loved Marcus soooo much by the time this book was finished. Not that I didn't before, but he most definitely got bumped up on my favorites list! ❤ His devotion and love for Daisy was something beautiful. His determination to get vengeance for her rape had me swooning!  I don't even care what that says about me.

"In terms I hope you'll understand, darling, in fairytales, the prince vanquishes the wicked queen. The evil stepmother, the malicious goblin. In real life, Daisy, to avenge a wrong done to his princess, if the need arises, the prince puts a bullet in somebody's brain."
~Marcus to Daisy ❤

Oh. Emm. Gee! Do you see! ❤ SWOON ❤ So yeah, I loved me some Marcus Sloan. Their relationship was quick, but never lacking. I loved how there wasn't anything added for the sake of drama. It was simply a retelling of how they came to be together. I loved it. I loved the ending the most. As I got closer and closer, I was hoping beyond all hope that Ms. Ashley was going to give Daisy and Marcus the one thing they wanted above all else. I was seriously gonna be pissed if it didn't end this way too. Boy was I close to tears at the absolute Happily Ever After they got.  Also, I need to mention that I freaking LOVED how and WHY Marcus built Daisy her castle. I remember when Jet was taken to The Castle in the second book and every subsequent visit it was always described and a sort of silly thing that they had an actual castle built in Denver. But once we learned the why's and that he did that to make Daisy safe, oh my gawwwwd I was in the throes of a serious book crush! Ok I gotta stop. If I keep going I'll end up just telling more and more spoilers. I've said enough as it is, and this was a fabulous addition to the already awesome Rock chick series. I can't recommend it enough!

One last thing, I know this is more like a prequel of the series, and yes you can technically read it first as a stand alone,  but I feel like you can also read it last as the ending to the series. I think either first or last, it'll be enjoyed either way and should just be READ! ❤

Thank you to Kristen Ashley for supplying this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

"That ship has sailed, sugar. And i'm on it.
It's called... The Love Boat."
~Daisy to Marcus

“You, thinkin’ I’d have a problem with you bein’ Marcus Sloan,” I expanded.
“Do you know who I am?”
“Nope.” I shrugged. “Don’t care either. Though, that’s to say ‘nope’ don’t mean that I don’t know. I just don’t really know. I still don’t care. And that’s not why I don’t wanna have dinner with you.”
“I’m still not understanding.”
“Honey bunch, I’m a stripper.”
“Yes. And?”
I shut up.
Dear God, he thought I thought I was better than him.
No.
He thought I thought I had reason to think I was better than him.
“I don’t judge,” I said quietly. “Life’s life and a person’s gotta do what they feel they gotta do to get along in it.”
“This is correct.”
“So I don’t care what you do or who you are.”
“And this delights me.”
My heart started racing because it did. It delighted him.
And I knew this because his eyes were again twinkling.
“Men are a**holes,” I shared.
“Some of them are, yes,” he somewhat agreed.
“Not met many who aren’t. My count, all my life, that number equals two.”
Those twinkling eyes stopped twinkling in order to flash.
“Just two?”
“Yup. Two,” I confirmed.

“Although I find that knowledge upsetting, I’ll share I’d like to make that three,” he told me something I already (mostly) got.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
