My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Description:

PULSE is a standalone, full romance novel with no cliffhanger and a HEA.

Leah Allen
The last thing I needed was another bad boy.

Hard muscles. Handsome. Hot tattoos. He had a dangerous, I don't give a f*** attitude that made him irresistible.

It was supposed to be a one-night stand, but when Dad introduced Chris as my new stepbrother, I knew I was in trouble. His world of gangs and violence would destroy me. I needed to stay away.

Why do I find that impossible?

Chris Belzer
Drugs, fights, death. A typical Wednesday. Meeting Leah changed everything—music coursed through my veins when we f***ed. I knew she would be the key to escaping the quicksand I'd been mired in for ten years.

I shouldn't want her. I couldn't resist her. Breaking out of the crime and blood and into a new life would be impossible without her.

ATTENTION: PULSE contains mature subject matter including sex, drugs, and violence. Please be over the age of 18.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Description:

Welcome to Fortune’s Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart.

Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can’t afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack on Fortune’s Island and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down.

Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. Now, he’s back on the island—free of the family shackles—and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance.

But, Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid—a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But, she can’t resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn’t take long before both of them realize that anything can happen at The Love Shack on a hot summer night.

Wow. Such a great story. To me, this story felt so different then the same old nitty gritty sex filled MC books I keep running across. I've been on an MC kick for two years straight, looking for a gem in these rough stories. Let me tell you- this one finally meets everything I was looking for.

There was:
-Grit
-Violence
-Sexy times
-Club business
-Stupid club whore trying to cause problems
-Issues with other clubs
-A bad President
-A rough hero who tried to be more of a good man for the heroine but still was rough, gruff, full of sex, but still a good brother and protector.
-A heroine who learns to come into her own after her crazy previous life.
-Club brothers that I would love to know more about.
-Unfortunately- not what I want to read about, so I skipped as much as I could- there was spousal rape in the prologue.

Laura, aka: Shay, is in hiding from her seriously whacked out crazy husband. She takes years to do so, but she finally reaches out to her brother, Jeremy, for help.

Jeremy served in the military with Bowie- so he turns to him to be the help he needs for Shay.

Bowie has always had a thing for Shay, but he only knew her then as Laura and she was much younger. Jeremy used to talk about her on their deployments. He had grand dreams of hooking Shay to his star after he got out of the military, too bad she was already taken. Now he has a second chance to make her his. So, can he take this broken woman, who looks nothing like her old photos, and make her his old lady for once and all?

Bowie had a lot on his plate. The clubs president is making bad choices, placing him and the club in danger a lot with certain kinds of runs. He needs to take this guy out. He also has a club whore who claims to be his old lady, and now he has to hide and protect Shay. There's only so much one can handle. But handle it like a champ he does- eventually.

What I liked:
1. Story flow- quick & easy
2. I couldn't put this story down
3. A lot of the secondary characters
4. Tag
5. Some humor
6. This story read so different then the average biker book
7. So much going on but never once was it overwhelming- it just flowed really good together
8. The last few lines of the books literally gave me a chill up my whole body- what the hell!? Please hurry up with the next book for that moment!!!

This book left open story lines for: Rollo, Tag, Lock and Tin-Man. I seriously have to know more about the that surprise secret towards the end in regards to Tin-Man.

NETGALLEY REVIEW: Screwball (Hard Hitters #2) by Linda Morris

Screwball (Hard Hitters, #2)Screwball by Linda Morris

Passion dominates the diamond in the second novel in this fun and flirty baseball romance series by the author of High Heat.

Preserving his family’s baseball legacy in these tough times takes everything he’s got, and constant clashes with his father have left him struggling for authority over the team and even his own future. ARC provided by PENGUIN GROUP via Netgalley. THANK YOU!

Paul keeps a tight lid on his career and an even tighter grip on his personal life, especially when it comes to his father. He's the President of the Thrashers, a minor league baseball team. He's single, hardworking, keeps his life in strict control, and has the legacy of the Thrasher's in his hands that's been passed down from his grandfather.

Willow is broke, has a child, she's single, and she's working as a blogger for a company where she can write about sports. She grew up with the love for sports, thanks to her father.

These two meet, have a sexy moment under the pier, and nothing will be the same as they know it when their worlds reconnect over a year later.

These two will need to learn to:
1. let their guards go
2. trust each other
3. admit their feelings

Can he break the tight fist hold his father has on him...or even break the mold of the legacy?

Can she break the stigma of her past boyfriends and learn to put herself out there one more time?

I really like baseball, so reading a book involving this sport was fun for me. I also enjoyed that we have a heroine who had a job, of a blogger for sports, that I've not had to chance to experience in a story before.

I liked that Willow didn't generally back done and could ask tough questions and stick to her guns. Even if it may hurt her heart and those she loved. Sometimes, you have to put yourself all out there- the good or the bad- to open the eyes of others. Willow was definitely a strong character and I loved all of her mommy times with Jack.

Paul, I liked him but many times he ticked me off. He had to learn to listen before he spoke or took actions first. He was such a great dad. I loved how he took to it naturally.

What I liked a lot about this book:
1. Alex. I really hope he and Kendra meet - but really I hope he's the next book.
2. The Alex and Willow moments and Paul's reactions.
3. I found humor in this story.
4. Willow, Paul and Jack family moments.
5. Kendra- Willow's friend. I loved her! She didn't let Willow put her in a bad spot and stuck to her guns. Most friends as side characters don't do that. She was a good person for Willow.
6. Kept me mostly interested.
7. Until the end, I felt like this story felt like it could be very plausible.
8. I liked how the couple read across the pages- they seemed real and mature.

Not a fan of:
1. How long Willow kept her secret and how it's discovered- though I knew that was going to be the way he found out.
2. The couple took a bit to get it finally right.
3. I didn't like the flowery words towards the end. It was TOO sweet for my liking- and I love the idea of sweet love but even that was too much for me.

REVIEW: The Con by Justine Elvira

25625814The Con by Justine Elvira
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Description:

Jagger had three rules for every con:

1. Don't back out
2. Don't forget the story
3. Don't fuck it up

I broke them all.

I first met Jagger when I was just nine years old. He was an older boy who gave me twenty dollars to buy a new pair of ballet shoes after I dropped mine in the mud. That's when I fell in love with him.

And love would be my downfall.

I would run into Jagger over the years and I'd watch him as he'd hustle strangers out of their money with his latest scam. He lied, he cheated, and he took advantage of anyone he could. Most importantly, he never got caught.

Well, until he needed me to help him pull off his biggest con to date.

I thought I could do it. He told me it was easy to make money through deception, and I believed him because he had a lot of it.

But I should have known that nothing is guaranteed.

My name is Ronnie and now we're on the run.

*Recommended for 18+ due to subject matter and sexual content.

PLAYING FOR HER HEART
Gamers Series #2
Megan Erickson
Releasing Aug 11th, 2015
Entangled: Brazen

Grant Osprey just had the hottest sex of his life. Sure, they were both in costume, and yes, it was anonymous, but he never expected her to bolt in the middle of the night without so much as a good bye, let alone exchanging numbers. Or names. All he’s left with are her panties and some seriously X-rated memories...until he meets his business partner's little sister.

Only Chloe Talley isn't the bold, sexy vixen he remembers. And she wants nothing to do with him.

Cosplay is Chloe’s only chance to leave her boring, socially awkward world behind. To forget that she’s failing at life and can’t be with anyone, let alone a single-father like Grant. But the raw hunger between them is undeniable. With him, she can be a misbehaving maid. A sexy call girl for hire. Each scene pushes Chloe beyond her strict boundaries, until Grant demands the one character she can't play.

Herself.
