Something disturbing this way comes...

It has recently come to our attention that author Kendall Grey has taken to the internet to bash her own books as well as the people reading those books. Needless to say, we're not okay with this.

I'm pretty open about what books I read. I don't care if it's a clean book or a naughty (ie. hot) erotic book. As long as there's a story there, one I want to read, then I'll read it.

But there are some things I can't stand. The actions by author Kendall Grey is one of those things. Lately, when people write negative reviews they have been getting bullied by disagreeing readers or friends of the authors. This is not ok. Most people I know, and have talked to, hate writing negative reviews. But not all books work for all people. And all of my friends on GR go to great lengths to not bash the author when they state what didn't work for them in the book. Don't readers deserve the same respect? Just because they don't like a particular book, or have issues with an aspect of the book is no reason to belittle them. They paid for your book. You're profiting from them reading it. Most readers keep the books they read. I don't know many that automatically return a book they didn't like. Even if they didn't like the book, most write a review that will help others understand why they rated it the way they did.

I don't pretend to be an author. But, I was a college student who had to write papers. Some long papers. Some that felt like they were the length of a novel. It's hard work. You pour everything into the project wanting a good reaction from it. The biggest difference is in college I'm getting graded instead of being paid.

But no matter what, you don't disrespect the people you are writing for. Ms. Grey could be the best author in the world but after her recent comments, I'll never be able to find out. If I tried to read her books, the only thing I would be able to think about is her opinion on GR members and her readers in general.

I don't appreciate being called a "Goodreads motherfucker" by an author who can't seem to pull her head out of her ass.

I'm sorry you feel that your Erotic Romance novel was a sell out and are so pissed off at the world that it did better than your UF trilogy did. Newsflash lady: Those "Goodreads motherfuckers" gave that trilogy you're so hard up about an average of 4 stars each. I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but that's A GOOD THING! So while you sit there and bash your readers, you should realize all you're doing is hurting yourself. While I can only speak for myself, I have noticed that the people of Goodreads stick together. We don't take kindly to others putting our own down. When a book is good, we spread the word and spread it far and loud. When a book is bad, well yeah that gets spread too. BUT, I have yet to read a review that is literally bashing the product Most of them are just giving the review reader an OPINION on said book and an explanation on why that particular person did not like it. And cliche and crude as it is, opinions are like ass holes. Everyone's got one. You'll never be able to please everyone. That is just a fact of life. There will always be someone out there who doesn't like your books. But on the flip side, there will also ALWAYS be someone out there who fucking loves them too! What works for one person will not always work for another. There are so many different genres out there and some just don't fit for everyone. So maybe you should take a breather and relish those fans that love your stuff and let the ones who don't roll off your back like a grown up. :-)

P.s. I'd also like to say that I won't be reading your books after your immature tirade either. So if you'd like to keep losing potential readers, keep up the craptastic attitude!

    1. She used the excuse that the readers were never supposed to see the blog. But it's a public blog. If she really didn't want people to see it, shouldn't have said it. Period.

The whole rant was awful, but she was really out of line for the comment about Goodreads members.
