In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

We at Co2BL are huge fans of baseball. Well, ok Lindsay likes the sport while Nikki likes the uniforms ;) But we love to read about hot baseball players and when we saw the blurb for Bring on the Heat, it sounded like something right up our alley! This was a funny and quirky book that was engaging and had likable characters. Well, some likable characters. Some were worthy of a drop kick or two...

Darcy Hamilton is house sitting for a socialite who likes to jet set all over the world. Said socialite offers Darcy her invitation to an exclusive fashion show hosted by Darcy's beloved New Jersey Sonics. She's partly over the moon, partly weary of accepting. After a little coercion from her bff, she goes with the hopes of meeting the star pitcher, and Darcy's crush, Chase Westbrook. The catch, Darcy has to pose as party girl socialite Lydia Logan. This leads to lots of misunderstandings, hot dates with a hot baseball player, and a blow up of epic proportions.

Darcy has found herself in a pickle. Mistaken identity takes on a whole new name when she is somewhat forced into the charade of pretending to be Lydia. Chase falls for "Lydia" but notices from his time spent with her that she doesn't seem to live up to her reputation. While Darcy falls deeper and deeper in her lies, she's also falling in love with Chase. But how will he feel when the real Lydia shows up and Darcy's charade is exposed?

There were a few times when it seemed to go a little slowly, but overall it was an enjoyable read. Initially we were worried that Darcy was going to set out to impersonate Lydia but in reality it was a case of mistaken identity. We weren't really fond of some of Darcy's decisions when they continued to dig the hole deeper with Chase. And while we understand that she did try to tell Chase the truth on multiple occasions, he kept cutting her off.

On the flip side though, Chase was pretty quick to turn his back on Darcy when the truth came out, yet he wasn't 100% honest with her either. Consequently, we wish the reveal had happened sooner, allowing them more time to spend as Chase and Darcy, with no secrets between them.

In the end though, it was definitely a fun read and we would be interested in seeing what comes next in this series.
