Royal St. James got her name when she was born. Not because
her mother loved her royally, but because Royal was a giant pain in the ass.
She’s spent her entire life fighting to live, and the last thing she needs is
to deal with some pretty-boy police officer who wouldn’t know a hardship if it
came up and bit him in the…you know.
Justice Rector wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
He was raised to work hard and always fight for what he believed in. His father
was a cop, and ever since he could remember, he wanted to be one, too.
It was a complete coincidence that he ends up going
undercover and meeting Royal St. James. It was just one day, a single moment in
time. All routine.
Just do the buy, make the bust, and get out.
But Royal St. James, aptly named, screws everything up.
Royally.
All of a sudden, he has a decision to make: blow his cover
and save the girl, or save himself.
Of course, he does the most stupid thing possible.

I am happy to say that I loved this book. The blurb obviously sounded awesome, which is what made me want to read it to begin with, but I haven't had the best luck with this authors most recent books so I was also nervous going into this one. Especially since the last 2 books I read before starting this one were duds. I was a little afraid I was in a book funk. But this book was absolutely perfect.
I think this is the 1st time I will have ever said this about the hero of a book, but I swear to god Justice was based on me. There were so many times that I saw myself in him, that it was unbelievable. I could definitely relate to him being sick with the plague. Every description was straight out of my life. Been there, done that, had the million meds while I felt like death.
I also really like Royal. My heart just broke for her every time she interacted with her dad. He was horrible. As much as I wouldn't want Justice and Royal to move away from their town, at the same time I really wanted them closer to his parents because they were so great to her that she deserved to have that around her all the time.
There was definitely some amazing chemistry between Justice and Royal. I loved watching them get to know each other, and seeing Justice give up his undercover operation to keep her safe.

I'm really curious about Royal's brother and if he'll get a book.
Final opinion: this book is definitely worth reading!
