Turn Up the Heat by Kimberly Kincaid

Welcome to our stop for Turn Up the Heat by Kimberly Kincaid!

"It's not you."

There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge.

But Bellamy's escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who's ever checked under her hood.

Yet this small-town man isn't all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

Review: Damaged by H.M. Ward

17231976Damaged by H.M. Ward
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

To sum it up: Life sucks. And, as soon as Sidney picks up the pieces something always knocks her back onto her butt. It's never pretty, but this time is different. This time pretty isn't even the right word.

Peter is the personification of perfection. It's like he fell off his angel perch in purgatory, because let's face it--any guy that hot has got to be naughty. He was probably sent here to ruin her life.

Peter is beyond beautiful with his sexy blue eyes, dark hair, and toned body. Add in his charming wit and Peter is everything Sidney ever wanted in a man, but when things get hot and heavy Peter shows her the door. Sidney takes the walk of shame and leaves. It's the end of the worst blind date ever. Her life couldn't possibly reach higher levels of suckage, but it does.

The next morning everything comes crashing down. The insanely hot guy from last night, the one that saw her half naked, is teaching at the front of the class room...

Walk On The Striped Side Blog Tour!

Here at Co2BL, we are HUGE Jessie Lane fans! Well, maybe me more so than Lindsay... winking She likes to say I'm a "stalker" while I call it being a #1 fan! big grin

Lol. I can't help it that you like to "stalk" Jessie Lane!

So we are super stoked to take part in the blog tour for JL's newest Big Bad Book release, Walk On The Striped Side, featuring the oh so hot tiger Shifter Gage Ivanov and his lady love Elena Demos. Without further ado, here we go!

Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?

Elena Demos’s life has been turned upside down. Her mother has passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go to work with two aunts they've never met, in the family business they've known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn't bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it’s only their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena’s back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn't be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?

Claws, love bites and handcuffs - OH MY!

"What says 'I love you'? A flamethrower"

Oh My Freaking God! This book was so fabulously awesome I don't even know where to start! I read BBB for the first time a while ago and then again more recently when I knew WOTSS was going to release so I could refresh my memory. Both times I was left wanting Gage's book immediately! Normally I'm an impatient person, but I have to say, this was totally worth the wait! Jessie Lane has outdone herself! I laughed my ass off, I cheered, I swooned, I got all hot and bothered and I was, yet again, left wanting more! Gage Ivanov is one seriously hot, alpha, stubborn kitty! And Elena Demos is the puurrrfect woman for him! I am a huge fan of the strong female lead who can take care of herself and doesn't need a man to swoop in and save her. Elena was that and so much more. She didn't take (too) much crap from Gage and she (attempted) to give as good as she got. What! He is a shifter with mega strength, that was the only reason she didn't take him down! Well, that and the handcuffs ;) Elena also has a sense of humor to go along with her steel demeanor. Her 'presents' she left for Gage at his house were freaking hilarious! Her extreme fear of spiders was so funny and so relatable I cringed right along with her. One of my favorite parts was when she got so pissed that nobody believed that scary bastard was stalking her! Well, Elena, I believed you! LOL The ongoing story of saving the the leader of the Corvus Pack was well continued and I was glad to see old friends from the first book. The writing was again superb and I loved all the characters. JL has created a paranormal world that I love reading about. I fall in love with each character and crave more about them all! WOTSS was exactly what I was hoping it would be. An awesome story for an awesome character. I really can't wait to read the next book and see what's gonna happen next!

Made special just for us from the awesome Jessie Lane herself, here's the playlist for WOTSS which features some pretty great songs!

Hi everyone! I’m here at Confessions of 2 Book Lovers to talk about one of my great loves – MUSIC. These are the ‘other’ songs I listened to while writing Walk On The Striped Side. While the song itself might not be a ‘perfect’ fit for the characters or story, something about the music struck a chord with whatever I was feeling while writing.

Christina Perri – Human
Imagine how Elena feels when she figures out Gage broke her heart because she was human and he wasn’t?

Halestorm - Daughters of Darkness
This song was the background music anytime I wrote a scene where the Demos sisters were up to their usual shenanigans.

Halestorm - Bad Romance (Lady Gaga cover version)
Gage and Elena might love each other, but they’re not warm and fuzzy people. Hell, Elena spends basically the first half of the book trying to get revenge on Gage by apprehending his sister on a bogus murder charge. So I felt this cover of Lady Gaga’s song was very aprpos for them at times.

P!nk - True Love ft. Lily Allen
Lets go back to that statement I just made about Gage and Elena not being warm and fuzzy peeps. Yeah. This song. I totally should have put it on the “published list”, but I forgot to. The song says it all ladies.

Daughtry- Broken Arrows
This song came to mind when Gage was trying so hard to show Elena how sorry he was that he broke her heart. It’s another song that really should have made that “published list”. I totally love this one.

The Pretty Reckless - Just Tonight
This is one of those songs for Elena for when she was still so heartbroken from Gage, but also wanted him with everything she had. The turmoil in this song is so painful it’s beautiful.

A big THANK YOU  to Nikki and Lindsay for having me here today! I love these girls! Hopefully I introduced some of you to some great music. I love finding new music that I love. Does anyone have a song they thought of while reading Walk On The Striped Side? Or perhaps you’d just like to share your favorite song of the moment?

Omg! *fangirling* Did you see that! She said our names!

I did see that! That is the coolest thing ever!

Lol We'd also like to give a big thanks to Jessie for the opportunity to read an arc of Walk On The Striped Side and for taking part in this blog tour!

Crystal and Melissa often live half their lives with their heads in the clouds dreaming of alpha military hunks, werewolves and kick ass heroines crazy enough to chase after creatures that they unquestionably should know better than to chase.
Their first YA novel, The Burning Star, was released in May 2012. Big Bad Bite is their second novel, but their first adult paranormal romance. They are now working on their next two novels, Walk On The Striped Side and Secret Maneuvers. With these projects underway, they are looking forward to showing the rest of the world their crazy stories, heroes and heroines that often plague their minds until written, and hope you will join them on their journey!

ARC Review for A Flair Of Heat by Nicola Claire!

For those of you who know me, (Nikki) you know one of my favorite authors to stalk err... follow is Nicola Claire. I absofreakinglutely love her Sweet Seduction series, and now I have a new series to go all cray cray (yes I said that) over! Ms. Claire's new H.E.A.T. series is a little different in that it's a new Contemporary Romantic Suspense Series with a strong leaning towards Crime-Thriller. Right up my alley! So, she asked if I'd like to read an arc of the debut book and you know I jumped at it! Here is my review and there will also be pre-order links so check it out! :)

A Flare Of Heat (H.E.A.T. #1)
A Flare Of Heat by Nicola Claire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are times when I truly believe humanity will not survive.

Some of the last words spoken to Detective Lara Keen by her Criminal Investigations Bureau partner Carl Forrester before he died. They have haunted her ever since.

With a spate of murders to solve, a tip off about suspicious activities in a popular sex club, and the return into her life of the one man she never wanted to trust again, Lara's world becomes darker and much more sinister indeed. Having to rely on HEAT, Hauraki Emergency Assistance Team, Chief Investigator Damon Michaels in order to discover the reason behind a grisly body in a car boot fire just proves how disturbing Lara's life has become... on so many levels.

But with Carl's wise words in her head and a gut instinct many detectives would long to have, Lara is determined to join the dots before the killer strikes again. And if she has to get up close and personal with her new hot HEAT partner to achieve that? Well, that's just what good detectives do.

A sexy, sizzling crime-thriller sure to add a flare of heat to your night.

I had planned on waiting to write a review so I could mull things over in my head for a bit... But I feel the need to express my immediate emotions before I forget. First, Nicola Claire is one of my favorite authors. Her Sweet Seduction series is the best and I can't recommend it enough! So when she asked if I'd be interested in an arc of her newest, somewhat darker crime drama series, I jumped at the chance! I knew right away I'd love it. (I'm psychic like that ;) ) So I read it and yes I loved it! The story was gripping and I was constantly engaged. I was irritated with my work schedule for interfering with my new love interest / book boyfriend favorite book. :D The characters were intriguing and I could read about them again and again. And apparently I will. ;) The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I got to the last page and it was... well, the last page. I wanted more immediately! Lara and Damon were awesomesauce! Damon was hot and such a great guy. He knew Lara so well and knew when to give her her space and back off, and he knew when to push her. He also knew how to give her the business! ;) *dreamy sigh* Lara was a kickass detective who could hold her own. She had her faults and her weaknesses, but she was the only female in her division and she stood her ground. I love a strong female lead and Ms. Claire did a great job with Lara. The story line itself had me guessing over and over. I even told a friend my theories as they progressed just so I could have it in writing when I was correct! (This only happened once, so far :| I have high hopes for the next book though!) Lol. I was literally on the edge of my seat gripping my kindle and blocking out the real world as I delved deeper and deeper into the drama unfolding before me. I needed to know what was gonna happen next. And it was so good! I will warn that there is a slightish abrupt ending that the author kinda foreshadows in her description of the series "Each couple will have three books of their own, making up a trilogy of trilogies." Which I neglected to see until after I finished the book. I was dumbfounded and kept trying to see where the rest of the story was. Alas, it was just an excerpt from her first Sweet Seduction book. (Also a great read btw!) So now it seems I have to wait until September when book 2 in her new awesome H.E.A.T. series will come out. I hate waiting, but I have a feeling this is gonna be worth it!

A big thanks to Nicola Claire for offering an arc of A Flare Of Heat for my honest review!

**EDIT: Here's the Amazon link! Amazon**

Nicola Claire lives in beautiful Taupo, New Zealand with her husband and two young boys.

She's tried her hand at being a paramedic, bank teller and medical sales representative, (not all necessarily in that order), but her love of writing keeps calling her back.

She has a passion for all things supernatural, spiced up with a good dollop of romance - as long as they include strong characters, alpha males and capable females, and worlds which although make-believe are really quite believable in the end.

There's nothing better than getting caught up in a compelling, intriguing and romantic book.

When she's not writing or reading, she's out on her family boat at Lake Taupo, teaching her young boys to fish, showing them the beauty that surrounds them in nature and catching some delicious trout for dinner.

Kindred has been a joy to write, creating a rich world with dynamic characters and paranormal twists that shock and awe has been pure bliss for this author. And just as well, because there's a lot more story yet to tell...
