Our First Blog Tour! Time to Celebrate the Books of Lisa Sanchez!

Welcome to our very first blog tour! We are really excited to be participating in Lisa Sanchez's Hanaford Park blog tour, hosted byLove Between The Sheets.

We have some fun things for you today. We'll be posting reviews, some awesome excerpts as well as playlists for all three books.

The first book in the series is Eve of Samhain.

Book Description:

As a college senior and server at Hanaford Park's hottest nightclub, twenty-one year old Ryann Pierce's plan was simple: work hard, make lots of money, and avoid the ass-grabbers at all costs. What she never planned for was Quinn Donegan—the living, breathing advertisement for sinful behavior that waltzed into her life.

With an angelic face, a hard body and a butt-load of charm, Quinn had a way with the ladies—a lot of ladies. Cursed with a deadly, addictive touch, his trail of indiscretion blazed across five hundred years. Tired and jaded, Ryann is a shocking revelation Quinn didn't see coming.

Filled with desire, yet unable to touch one another, Ryann and Quinn embark on a daunting journey, battling frustrating physical limitations while exploring their new love. In a race against the clock, Ryann learns she must plead for Quinn's life before…the Eve of Samhain. Determined to end her lover's suffering, not even the danger dogging her every move can keep her from her mission.

Our Review:

This book was a great read.  We had very minimal issues with it and those were more of a personal preference rather than anything the author did. Ms. Sanchez did a great job with her world building and the characters were very well written. The beginning was a little slow, but that can be forgiven since the author spends that time world building. But once you get past that, the story really picks up and moves along so fast that you won’t be able to put it down. The supporting characters were also fabulous and we liked that Martha ended up one of the group and we can't wait to read her book next!

We loved Ryann. She is one awesome chick!  She was a strong, independent, take no shit kind of girl! And she’s definitely our type of woman with her massive purse collection. Our hearts practically stopped when she sold the entire collection to help Quinn. Ok, he’s hot and he loves her…but…her purses!!! Excuse us for a moment while we mourn the loss of them...Ok. All done. We have to give Ryann a lot of credit, because we’re not sure how we would have reacted to all the things she found out about. We might have reacted ok (with a healthy dose of shock) to finding out about Quinn’s past, but the stalker…not so much.  From the first moment she meets Quinn she's simultaneously enthralled by his sex appeal and disgusted by his pigheadedness. But Quinn had a way of growing on a person and Ryann was no different. While her body is on fire for him, her brain would love to punch him in the face! She had so much sass and attitude, there was never a dull moment with her! Everything that came out of her mouth was hilarious!

Quinn. Oh, Quinn. How we too, wanted to reach in this book and punch you in the balls! But, Quinn is seriously hot. He was so cocky and totally sure of himself and made no qualms about flaunting his sexy self. Until he meets Ryann. While their first few encounters included Quinn with different women, he became just as enamored with Ryann as she was with him. Once he decided that he wanted Ryann, he was completely devoted to her. No matter how many other girls hit on him, he only had eyes for Ryann. As the story progressed, we fell in love with his absolute possessiveness with Ryann. While he may have seemed overbearing, he was trying so hard to protect her. All too often, there are things that keep a characters apart or tear them apart. While there were hurdles Ryann and Quinn had to overcome, they were together through the whole book.  It was easy to see that even though he didn't say it out loud, at least not in English ;), that he loved her, you could tell by his actions. And his Irish accent and the pet names he had for her!! *swoon*

"mo chroí" (my heart) "a ghrá" (my love) "Tá mo chroí istigh ionat" (my heart is in you) "Táim i ngrá leat. Is tú mo shonuachar" (I'm in love with you. You are my soul mate) See!!! Melt your ♥

Issues. We had a few minor ones. Ryann was such a strong woman, and that’s refreshing since she’s not like a lot of other characters. However, with that said, we had an issue with characters making stupid mistakes when there is danger surrounding them or they know they’re in danger. Why would you put yourself in danger just to prove a point about how independent you are? At some point, you need to put your pride aside and realize that the person protecting you is there to protect you! The only other issue we had was that this was more of a New Adult book and while we enjoy that genre, we were hoping for more adult here. In other words, our inner pervs were disappointed there wasn't more action ;). Don't get us wrong, the sexual tension between Ryann and Quinn was smokin hot! But we would have really enjoyed seeing them get more time between the sheets after everything they had to overcome to be together. I mean, seeing as he is the Gancanagh, or "love talker" in Irish mythology! His prowess is unmatched!

Speaking of mythology, we absolutely loved that aspect of this story! We've always been interested in the different tales spun from ancient mythology and this one was quite interesting! We found ourselves looking at Wikipedia several times just to learn more about this or that mentioned along the way. We were very pleasantly surprised with this one, and we can't wait to dive into the next one! :)

Overall, we really enjoyed this book. And we highly recommend reading it. :)

Book 2 of this series is Pleasures Untold.

Book Description:

Hell hath no fury like a witch done wrong. Pissed off and packing an arsenal of witchy mojo, Martha is on the warpath. Determined to avenge the murder of her mother and grandmother, her mission is simple: kill every vampire, demon and underworld bastard she comes across, because one of those hell beasts might be the monster that stole her childhood from her. But when a sexy Latin vamp literally falls from the sky, saving her from becoming an undead Happy Meal, she has no choice but to reassess everything she thinks she knows.

Xan is an anomaly --a vampire born, not turned. A powerful warlock who walks in daylight, Xan spends his days, and nights, watching over Martha, protecting her from Lucian, the blood-sucking monstrosity whose sole mission in death is to drain her dry. Undeniable attraction and the promise of pleasures untold draw the two lovers into a frustrating dance of one step forward, two steps back. When Lucian throws down a deadly ultimatum, Martha is forced to choose between relying on her own mystical woo woo to save the lives of her stolen friends or succumbing to the lure of dark, voodoo magic. Xan and Martha must work together to save those closest to her and put an end to Lucian's reign of terror before it's too late.

Our Review:

Lindsay: This book started out really good. It moved much faster (in a good way) than Eve of Samhain. Since the world had been built and the main character introduced in the previous book, you were able to jump right into the story and know what was going on. However, I’m not quite sure what happened between the first book (EoS) and this book. But Martha changed. She was still the tough chick that had a hard life and was misunderstood by nearly everyone around her but…she wasn’t as smart in this book as she was in the previous. And I found her to be extremely irritating at times. To the point that I was rolling my eyes and wanting to knock some sense into her.

Nikki: Second in the series, Pleasures Untold is just as awesome, if not more so, than the first. Full of action, lots of magic, demons galore and sexual tension the likes to send your heart a fluttering. Oh, and one Bad Ass chickadee witch hell bent on avenging the deaths of her mom and grandmother. We're talking kicking ass and taking no prisoners, Martha is one of my new favorite leading ladies! Having been dealt a statistic hand, witnessing the murder of her mother at the tender age of eight, by the oh-so-psycho vampire Lucien, she perseveres and even though she has to live a life in hiding, disguising her appearance from the world, she's also plotting. Planning for the day she will face off with the Über monster himself. And girl does not plan to lose! She's been getting in lots of practice over the years by hunting vampires and demons that would prey on innocents. Practice makes perfect right?! :)

Lindsay: Xan (not a huge fan of that name…or his McVampy name), but I loved him. He was strong, protecting, mysterious and HOT. Lisa Sanchez is extremely talented at making her heroes the hottest thing going. I would read her books for that alone. But it doesn’t hurt that I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read of hers so far. :)

Nikki: Enter Xan, or should I say McVampy! ;) At first glance Martha assumes he's just this ultra mega hottie bartender who lights her panties on fire where no other man has before. She's one part excited her girly bits aren't broken, one part wary of Mr. Hottie and after he comes to her rescue in an alley smack down with a couple vampires, one part Oh Hell No! After a few more encounters, it becomes clear McVampy.. err.. Xan is not your average vampire. He's actually a good guy and is there to help Martha in her mission to bring down Lucien.

Lindsay: On to the supporting characters/friends…This is where the book fell apart for me. I missed Ryann. I get that the book wasn’t about her, and that was fine, but there was only one small mention of her. One. For the whole book. And Martha kept going on about how Taylor and Jessica were her best friends and the only people to ever accept her and I cry foul on that. Ryann was the first person to accept her. She befriended Martha. She embraced Martha. And she was completely forgotten by Martha. And what’s even worse is Ryann was forgotten by Jessica. According to Eve of Samhain, Jessica and Ryann were best friends, practically sisters. Jessica’s mom took Ryann under her wing and treated her like another daughter. And yet, with everything that went down in the book…she wasn’t there. So either Ryann is a horrible person, one we didn’t know at all after Eve of Samhain, or Martha and Jessica were complete phonies that weren’t really her friends and dropped her when she moved out of the apartment. And if Ryann was married and on her honeymoon…then shouldn’t one of her “friends” mentioned that? Or shouldn’t someone had thought to call her and tell her that all he!! had broken lose and she was needed at home?

Nikki:Throw in a bunch of Barbie wannabe bitches, a few zombies (eww) and the most awesomest understanding best friends a girl could ask for, plus another super hot warlock, and we have one hell of a story!

Lindsay: This book was definitely action packed and an enjoyable read. I’m not sure which I enjoyed more but both Eve of Samhain and Pleasures Untold are must read books.

Nikki: I'm actually really torn about which book is my favorite so far! I loved Eve of Samhain but in Pleasures Untold there was so much action and the story was so well written and great! It was so fast passed and there was literally never a dull moment and I didn't want to put it down! Had I been able to, I would have read this all in one sitting! I have to give Ms. Sanchez some major props on her writing too! One of my all time biggest pet peeves is dialogue. I really hate when the characters sound like robots and unrealistic. Soooo not the case here! Lisa wrote her characters and their dialogue in such a way that it was very realistic and I think that really helped the flow of the story! I never had to reword lines in my head to make it make sense! (I hate when I have to do that in other books) All in all this was a fabulous read! I only have one complaint. There was only one teeny tiny mention of Ryann, from the first book. I just felt like since she befriended Martha before Jess did, that she would have a bigger part in this book. It was like Ryann never existed and that bugged me. But other than that I loved Pleasures Untold! And to be honest here, when I was reading Eve I had very little interest in reading book three, especially since the main characters had yet to be introduced. Since meeting them in PU, I have to admit that I am now very curious and can't wait to see how Taylor and Gabriel (mostly Gabriel, yummm) find each other and how their story will unfold! :-)

Book three is Faythe Reclaimed

Book Description:

Running through a strange forest with a bloodthirsty demon hot on her heels wasn’t Taylor’s idea of a rockin’ evening. Then again, neither was soaring backward through time and space. Time travel chafed and left a rank, nasty aftertaste. So, when she finds herself floundering amidst a sea of Commandment-loving holy rollers who fling accusations of witchcraft and bedevilment like hotcakes in a diner, finding her way home jumps to the top of her to do list. Too bad she can’t remember who she is or where she came from. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Taylor realizes she's falling for the mysterious Latin warlock living on the edge of Salem Village, Gabriel Castillo.

Battling an identity crisis and lost in a time that’s not her own, Taylor is determined to find her way back to twenty-first century Hanaford Park. But first, she and Gabriel must work together to uncover the dark scourge lurking in Salem's shadows, and in doing so, save their own lives, and the lives of countless innocents from a lethal date with the hangman’s noose.

Lol. We definitely had a love of purses on this blog. They always have to be big enough for a book and/or our kindles. ;)
