First off, let me be completely honest here and tell you that if I had read any reviews on this book I probably wouldn't have read it- I just wouldn't have been interested in reading a sweet story revolving around an innocent hero who can't speak. With that being said, this book completely took me by surprise but in the best kind of way.

I was brought to tears throughout this novel- Not an easy thing to do. My heart literally broke for the hero Archer, knowing everything he had been through... He’s vulnerable and extremely innocent and inexperienced in relationships- As you all know, that's not my usual cup of tea when it comes to heroes. Yet at the same time, he was also moody and possessive in his affection towards the heroine Bree. He may not have been able to state his feelings aloud but his actions could be heard loud and clear. Like I said, I wasn't sure it was even possible for me to be smitten by a character as sweet as Archer was since I'm a huge fan of asshole heroes- But something about him just worked for me and I fell in absolute love with everything about him.

As for the heroine, Bree... She's without a doubt a favorite heroine of mine. She's suffered from her own tragedy as well, which was the reason she found herself moving to a place that held nothing but sweet memories for her as a child. Despite everything she had been through in her past though, after meeting Archer she slowly found herself coming to a happier place in her life; A place where she became the strong woman she never thought she'd become... A woman who was able to accept and see right through a man who was just completely misunderstood by everyone in town.

The thing I loved the most about this story was the slow build up. There was no insta-love featured, which worked out perfectly for making this story and the tragedy and obstacles that both Archer and Bree were facing all the more real. The connection between these two characters features an abundance of chemistry that's both passionate and intense. It was clear to see that they were truly meant for one another... They just needed to be able to see it for themselves.

I will say this though... If it wasn't for all of the steamy sex scenes, I would have thought this story was a Christian novel. There was barely any cursing and it just had such an innocent and sometimes cheesy type of feel to it. With that being said though, never once did I think it took away from the story... And did I mention that the sex scenes were hot?

...Not all sex scenes in books stand out for me, but they definitely did in this book- Mia Sheridan is clearly a gifted author and it shows through every turn of the page.

If you're feeling torn on if this is a book for you, do yourselves a favor and go into it with an open mind. The hero Archer may not sound like your stereotypical hero featured in romance novels but Mia Sheridan has a way of showing her readers the definition of true beauty by allowing us to see and understand that things aren't always as they seem...
