Book Description:
After nearly a year and a half of grieving the loss of her husband, twenty-seven year old Alexa Sullivan Tate is headed back to her hometown after a decade of being away. She has no idea her high school crush, Jace McAllister, the guy who stole her heart the same night that he broke it, is more than ready to pick up the pieces.
Jace has spent the last ten years in the Army defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who ignited all his passions. Little does he know that the spark still exists.
Ten years ago they had smoldering chemistry, but the spark between them now might light a fuse that leads to an explosion even Jace can't stop. Not that he wants to. If only Alexa can get past her guilt and trust her heart again.
But how do you put it all on the line when you've already lost everything once before?

We decided to take a different review approach with this book. In the past, we've only done joint reviews for blog tours, but since we did a buddy read of this book, we thought we'd just go ahead and do a joint review. So, without further ado, Confessions of 2 Book Lovers bring you the Lindsay & Nikki show!
So, this has been a long awaited read for us!
Yes it has! We've been circling this book for a while, waiting until we could BOTH read it (since Lindsay refused to let me read it without her) So finally our schedules aligned and it was Buddy Read time! (uhh... did I just rhyme??)
LOL. Yes, I think you did just rhyme! And I'll be perfectly honest and say that I'm surprised you didn't read it without me!
Why would I do that???
LOL. YES! You would. So would I. Thank goodness there have been other great books out there to distract us.
True Dat Brah
LOL. People are going to think we're nuts! We seriously need a Co2BL dictionary!
Yeah we do Ok so back to Ignite. What did you think?
I loved it! You know me....I'm all over military romances. Aside from the book sounding good, that was a huge draw, Jace being military. But aside from the military aspect, the thing I loved most was Jase and Lexie's connection. It went back to high school and I loved the flashbacks. I just loved everything about Jace...the way he acted, the way he felt about Lexie, the way he thought about her. He was just perfect. And it didn't hurt that he was a baseball player too.
So... I'm taking it you liked Jace?! He was pretty awesome. Just the right amount of sweet mixed with badass. And I knew with that baseball analogy you would be hooked!
OMG! Yes!!!! Totally love him!!!! And that scene! That was the best scene I've ever read!!! Seriously, I had to include it:
“Do you remember the summer that we watched David Cone pitch the perfect game?” he asks me, interrupting my thoughts and causing me to wonder where he’s going with this question.
I shudder at the thought. “Of course I remember it. It was the first perfect game I’d ever watched. It just sucked that it came from a Yankees pitcher.”
Jace laughs, knowing how I’ve always detested the New York Yankees. “Do you remember what you said to me after that game?”
I shake my head, having no idea what I said to him thirteen summers ago.
“You looked at me and you said, ‘It kind of sucks for him. He just pitched the perfect game. It can never get better than that for him.’ Do you remember me disagreeing with you and accusing you of just being a Yankees hater?”
I’m somewhat in shock that he remembers a conversation from so long ago, but now that he mentions it, I can remember myself saying that. I nod my head, and he grins down at me.
“I didn’t agree with you at the time, but I learned my lesson later. That’s what you don’t get. I’m on the pitching mound and you’re my perfect game. It will never get better than you. No matter how many times I try to duplicate it, I know that it will never, ever happen. And now that I have a second chance, I’m not going to let you go as easily as I did back then.”I shudder at the thought. “Of course I remember it. It was the first perfect game I’d ever watched. I knew you would do that! I really liked Jace too. I loved how he was completely in love with Alexa and when they reconnected he was determined to rekindle their relationship. Be it friends or more, he just wanted her back in his life. And I especially loved how he took care with her emotions and feelings from her husbands death.
I completely agree. And that's why I loved him so much. You could literally feel his feelings for Alexa. And he never had any resentment of Alexa's husband. Jace really was the perfect man!
I concur. As for Alexa, I liked her a lot. And I could sympathize with where she was coming from, but there were a few times when I wanted to shake her and say "WAKE UP! Jace is awesomesauce and you need to jump on that!"
I agree. She was so scared of losing the person she loved again that she just wasn't jumping on that. But I agree, while I can see some hesitation on jumping back in, I also wanted to shake her for taking so long to admit how she felt.
Yup. I loved Brady! He was definitely on Jace's side trying to get her to realize it was ok to move on and love again. In fact, most of the supporting characters were pretty cool.
LOL. Brady was cool. When he was first introduced, I thought he might be a long triangle type of thing but I was really relieved when he turned out to just be her best friend. Since we're on the subject of friends...I really liked Knox and I'm really intrigued by him. I can't wait to read his book.
Omg me too! I just know his story is gonna be gooooood!
Oh, I totally agree! Just getting his brief back story was enough to make me want to dive right in. So, what's your final rating?
I'm giving it a solid 4. I think its was a fabulous debut, and the only issues I had were a few minor editing errors. Overall I see great things from Tessa Teevan in the future!
I would have to agree. This was an awesome debut from Tessa Teevan and I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner!
