"He was the past. And it broke my heart to think about what that meant. That in the history of the world there was a Magnus Campbell and now there was a Kaitlyn Campbell and once they loved each other, but now he was nothing more than a grave.” —Kaitlyn, 2017

A contemporary romance with a dash of history and a bit of SciFi, Kaitlyn and the Highlander is the first book in the Kaitlyn and the Highlander series.

If you love mysterious, sexy, hunky heroes with desperate hearts and romantic thoughts, heroines with courage who are also very ordinary disasters, and love stories that encompass all time, then you’ll love this romantic series. Read on as Kaitlyn and Magnus fall in love by picking up a copy of this book today.

Oh boy, where to begin?

I've seen this book multiple times in ads on social media. I'm sure if was mostly fb, but I couldn't swear by that...but I digress.

If you're a fan of Outlander, you'll probably like this book. It's like Outlander in reverse. The hot highlander travels through time to our modern day world (2017). I definitely found this to be an interesting twist. It amazes me all of the things Magnus was able to accomplish when he had no papers or identification.

This is definitely a slow burn book. Time is spent building a friendship between Magnus and Kaitlyn.

I wasn't fond of most of Kaitlyn's friends, especially Jason. And her parents annoyed me. Not much was really said about Kaitlyn's financial situation post-youtube, but her parents acted like she was straight up sponging off of them, like she was constantly asking for money. She'd been home all of a few weeks after the massive implosion of her engagement and career and they were rushing her to get out there and get a job. I'm not saying she shouldn't look, but nothing was said that she didn't have money, so if she was comfortable, why rush her? And they kept mentioning her partying...and while she did drink with her friends, going out a few times on the weekends, or meeting a friend for dinner isn't partying to me (then again, I don't party so 🤷‍♀️)

Overall, I thought this was enjoyable. I'm not currently in the mood for a long series, but I will be coming back to this series in the future.
