Book Blurb:

A troubled young mother yearns for a shot at redemption in this heartbreaking yet hopeful story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover.

After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself.

The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.

The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.

It's been a long time since I've read a CoHo book. I honestly don't have a reason why, it's just been a long time.

I have to confess that I didn't have much interest in reading this book. I knew of it's existence, didn't know what it was about and only picked it up because there were almost no other options in the stupid kindle reading challenge. Not only was this KU, I knew the author's work and knew I'd enjoy it. So I got the book.

I started the book and was immediately bored. I'm not blaming the book. I only read 1 chapter. I wasn't feeling it. It just wasn't the right book. So I was going to cheat for the stupid kindle challenge (I don't know why I want all those stupid kindle badge bookmarks that mean absolutely nothing, but I do)...so I started skimming the book. As I was skimming, I realized that the formatting changed. I was like "Wait. What!?"...so I stopped skimming, read a bit and decided I still wasn't interested so I went back to skimming (bear with me, I have a point). Then something caught my eye. I can't tell you what it was specifically but I stopped skimming and started reading. And I couldn't put the book down. I read the entirety of the rest of the book in one sitting.

I ended up really liking Ledger and Kenna. What Kenna went through was absolutely horrible. I find fault with everyone that immediately thought she was guilty and a cold hearted bitch for what happened in the accident. How they all missed that she was injured, in shock and traumatized is beyond me. I was glad when Ledger came around and fought for her though, she deserved that.

Overall, I'm really glad I ended up reading (most of) this book.
